Reminders

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When you’re reading through the Bible as my husband and I do, you notice a lot of things are repeated. Like, we read this long sermon in Ezekiel. And just a few pages later, the prophet repeats the exact same sermon. Even in 2 Peter 1, the apostle makes an important point, and then he basically says in verse 12, I’m going to keep reminding you of this. And Paul says in 1 Corinthians, “I’ve sent you Timothy. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus.” Like, why do we have to keep being reminded of stuff we already know? Well, because Scripture does not think we know it. The Bible repeats itself as if to infer that we can’t be trusted to grasp important things the first time around. So, don’t bristle when God reminds you of the same old thing. Most likely, you don’t know it as well as you think.
