I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and the other day I saw the most beautiful sunset – pink and lilac, then a beautiful orange glow right at the crest of the mountains. And then, in an instant, the sun was gone and all the color had disappeared. It reminded me of something by Amy Carmichael; she once wrote: “We will have all of eternity to celebrate the victories and only a few hours before sunset in which to win them.” Wow, isn’t that the truth! Sunsets – especially the lovely ones, it seems – are here in all their glory and then gone in the wink of an eye. And that’s very much like living for Jesus. Friend, the sunset of your life is coming, and soon all that you have done for him, all your service, will be gone-in-a-flash. It’ll be over. So, friend, redeem the time, make the most of the moment, and do not waste the opportunities. Now is your only chance; because you only have a few hours before sunset to win victories for Christ.
