Power Displayed in Weakness

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and as a little girl, I loved to hike with my father. When the trail got steep and my little legs got tired, Daddy would reach down to swing me up on his shoulders. He would carry us both up any steep hill. It’s a little like when Jesus said, “Come to me all you who are weary … and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you … for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Interestingly, Jesus doesn’t say, “Look how big and strong I am;” rather, He says, “Come to me … for I am gentle and humble in heart.” God’s Word reminds us that gentleness and humility tower over the macho stuff. And, once again, it’s another example of how God’s power is displayed through weakness. So cast all your anxiety on Him, for He cares for you. Let Him shoulder your load.
