Paid in Full
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Last month my husband decided to pay bills at the kitchen table, but he forgot to wipe down the table before getting started. By the time he got to his third bill, stains and grease marks blurred all the ink. He wiped off the liquid with a sponge and laughed, “You know, it’s a shame I can still read the amount due. Maybe if I couldn’t, I wouldn’t have to pay it!” Wishful thinking, Ken. Blotting out a debt can only be accomplished when payment is made in full. But the incident at our kitchen table reminded me of how God wiped out the stain of sin in our lives through Jesus. God ransomed us through His Son and paid our debt. Colossians chapter 3 says it’s been canceled, “… He took it away, nailing it to the cross.” Friend, when it comes to your salvation, you’ve got no bills to pay. Your account is all clear, all because the Lord stamped it in blood: “Paid in full.”
