Our Motivating Heart

I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and although I’m no psychologist, I do know what the Bible says about the heart and how it motivates us to do the things we do. Proverbs chapter says that the heart is the wellspring of life; it is the root that determines whether the fruit on the tree will be good or bad. Look inside your heart, and you’ll see your true self. To be honest, though, my heart is basically selfish, wanting what it wants when it wants it. And usually, that’s in opposition to God. But I make Psalm 86 my prayer where it says“Give me an undivided heart, oh Lord that I may fear your name. Look, I believe you want to fear His name; I believe you desire to worship Him and trust Him above all else. But it’s going to take an undivided heart. So today don’t give God just fragments of your time; don’t be halfway in your walk with Christ. Wholehearted devotion involves the best of your time and your heart.
