Our Blind Eyes

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and I sure do enjoy the program “Fixer-Upper” on HGTV. It’s a totally benign show about a Christian couple who fix up old houses. Nothing bad about it, but! If, let’s say, I watch 3 or 4 episodes in a week, it dulls my spirit. I feel spiritually mediocre and not as sharp, or keen, not as aware about things of God. And that, I do not like! It’s why the Bible says to turn your eyes away from worthless things. Not that the TV show is worthless; but too much of it certainly is. Look, we all need to recognize that wrong does not always look wrong to us. What God says is dangerous does not always appear dangerous. Evil does not always seem evil. We need protection from our own blind eyes and wandering hearts.

So, ask God to protect you today from everything that you’re not even yet aware is worthless.
