No Other Argument
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And back when I traveled with my friends Francie and Judy, we would always print out a hymn and sing it in the morning before racing off to my speaking engagements.
One time, before we even got to the second verse, Judy says to me, “You’re singing that wrong.” “No, I’m not,” I insisted. “Well, then why are you singing a quarter note here?” Francie asked. I bristled at her comment, and she snapped back. The air began to get tense until Judy pointed to the third stanza. And she read it out loud with a smile: “I need no other argument, I need no other plea, it is enough that Jesus died, and that He died for me.”
Oh, do the words to that hymn reflect what the Bible says about arguments. They do nothing but cause divisions. So, I need no other argument, and I sure don’t need another plea. “It is enough that Jesus died, and that He died for me!” I’m Joni Eareckson Tada.
