Me, Myself and I

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and oh, how often we think about ourselves, right? Like the other day … I saw a girlfriend at the mall, and she started telling me about all the goings-on in her family and I realized — I wasn’t listening. I was nodding and smiling, but if she had said, “Now, Joni, what do you think I should do?” I would have been clueless as to how to answer. Oh, it’s incredible how we’re so self-focused. And a lot of that “me, myself and I” way of thinking carries over into our relationship with God. But in Exodus chapter 3, God calls Himself, “I am who I am.” He is the only one who has a right to be “me, myself and I” centered. In fact, He’s the “I” upon which we should center our thoughts and attention. God is perfectly loving, perfectly giving, and perfectly holy … little wonder He wants us to center our thoughts on Him. Yes, the Great “I am” is the only one who can save us from ourselves.
