Major League Faith
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. My husband, Ken, loves keeping track of major league baseball teams and who they call up from the minor leagues. It’s great watching a rookie shine. And in the same way, this earth is like the “minor leagues” – with Christians working hard to gain a standing in the major leagues of heaven. Now, I’m not talking about earning salvation. You can’t do that, that’s already been paid for by the blood of Jesus; we can add nothing to it. But we can enlarge our eternal estate. Scripture tells us that “We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one might receive what is due him for things done while in the body.” Hey, friend, you are in spring training down here on earth, and the way you live does have an impact on how much you will shine in heaven. So do not waste a day; join me, your fellow rookie, and let’s get ready to shine by trusting and obeying our wonderful Savior.
