Loving the Body of Christ
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and my husband Ken loves football. He’s played it, he’s coached it, and he’d enjoy watching any team play. I like football, too, but I have to be a fan in order to watch it. If it’s a team I can’t relate to, then I don’t want to be bothered. And you know, sometimes isn’t that the way we live our Christian life? If it’s not our church committee or our choir or our group, we’re not as interested. And when it comes to church, we prefer one we can relate to; a church that we’re a fan of. But wouldn’t it be great if we could just love the church just because it’s Christ’s body? God calls us to love His people because, well, they’re His people. So even though there will be relationships in the body of Christ that you prefer, that you’re more comfortable in, God calls you to honor and support and encourage His whole bride, which is the entire church. That same Holy Spirit that lives in you, lives in every Christian.
