Lose Your Life

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and my missionary friend, Greg, who lives in Africa wears a bright polo shirt with an odd logo on the front. In big letters, it says, “LIVE DEAD.” Strange words, but they accurately reflect the words of Jesus when He says: “I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels – a plentiful harvest of new lives. Those who love their life in this world will lose it. But those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity.” Oh, friend, every day, we are called to “live dead,” as it were; to die to self each day. Only by losing our lives for the sake of Christ can God increase His kingdom. And when we forgo our selfish wants, we are living the life we’ve always longed for but could never find. So, today, be that kernel of wheat; live dead and you’ll live abundantly!
