Look to the Future

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Recently I saw an exhibit about the 60s. Flowerpower shirts, peace symbols, posters for the Beatles. For me, though, it was a depressing era. The late 60s was when I became paralyzed – stuck in a hospital, I went through seven surgeries and almost two years of rehabilitation. Well, after I left the exhibit, I tried to recall what those “bad old days” really felt like. There was no way I could revive the heart-wrenching anguish I experienced back in the hospital. Isn’t it amazing how, when we look back on a sad time, we are not able to relive the actual pain? And maybe that’s why, when we suffer, the Bible constantly tells us to look to the future; it is always pushing an end-time perspective.

So, are you hurting today? Well, God wants to give you hope and a future – because when you’re convinced of that, you’ll come out the other side really smiling.
