Life-Saving Words From Jesus
I’m Joni Eareckson Tada with a harsh word from our Savior. And it is harsh. Jesus says to you, “If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out; throw it away…If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away.” Okay, so Jesus is not being literal here, but when it comes to lust, whether for people or for things, Jesus has us undergo a radical operation. Because if you don’t deal severely with lust, then a glance becomes a gaze. A thought becomes an action. And a casual fantasy becomes a nightmare for everyone involved. So, when it comes to your desire for the wrong thing or person, be radical. Walk away. Look elsewhere. Leave the movie. Put the magazine down. Turn off your computer. Yes, these are all harsh choices, but they’ll result in God’s blessing. And having his blessing is worth saying no to any desire.
