I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I learned early on in my disability how important it is to say “thank you.” You see, so many people do so many things for me, I say it a lot! Thank you for this; thank you for that. Well, the other day my friend asked to borrow $10. And when she closed my purse, I automatically said in a cheery voice, “Thank you.” Well, that was odd to say, but I realized I’m just programmed to say thanks whenever someone “does” anything to me or for me. I wish I were that way with the Lord. I wish I were better programmed to be grateful and automatically say, “thank you, Lord,” especially when it seems God is taking something away rather than giving it. Psalm 107 says, “Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.” So today, show gratitude to the Lord for who he is and what he has done. That is something to program into your heart!
