Learn Obedience
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and if you’re like me, if you’re a follower of Jesus, don’t you long to be like Him? Isn’t it your goal as a Christian? To be as much like Jesus as is possible? Well, Hebrews 5:8 is one of those verses that tells us exactly how to be like Christ. It says, “Even though Jesus was God’s Son, He learned obedience from the things He suffered.” So, there you have it. If you want to be like Jesus, you need (I need) to do the same – learn to obey God through the things you suffer. Basically, it means to trust Him: don’t be anxious; don’t be filled with doubts; be faithful; believe God’s promises – all of them. Sure, those things are hard to do when you are suffering, but Hebrews 5 says you can learn to obey. It’s a learning process. And if you need help with it, look into our resources, would you, for those who suffer at joniandfriends.org.
