King David’s Example

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and my quadriplegia is constantly reminding me how needy and weak I am. I simply cannot do disability on my own. I need help, and I need a lot of it. But maybe that’s my secret to being strong in the Lord. I’m a little like David who summarizes himself this way in Psalm 40; David says, “As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me.” Okay, King David says that? The mighty warrior? David, the strong commander feared by all his enemies? You got it. The strong man says he’s poor and needy. But David knew that his confession of weakness would lead directly to the storehouses of heaven where there was more than enough strength for him. Oh, friend, can you join David the psalmist in confessing that, yes, God, I need you desperately. For when you do, the doors to heaven’s storehouse of strength are wide open to you today!
