Keep Your Smile
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and living in a wheelchair as long as I have, I’ve learned that God has charged me to steward my suffering well. God expects me to respond to my suffering in a responsible way, knowing that His glory and my witness to others is at stake. What does that mean? Well, when I persevere through pain with a smile; when I cheerfully submit to my encroaching limitations; when I speak kind words under difficulty, I know that God receives greater glory and others around me are strengthened in their faith. And that’s the same for you. Every good word you speak under pressure; every hard effort you face with a smile, it raises you to a higher level, and endows you with a clearer sight of God. Your glad response to afflictions makes your heart large and tender, generous and strong. So, if today you are struggling, keep your smile. It’ll give God glory and help others.
