I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I remember watching an incredible race when I was at the Paralympics in Australia. It was the 5,000 meter race for disabled runners. One guy had led the entire way, and you could tell that he was building confidence as he was coming down the homestretch. He could not see, but three other runners behind him suddenly began to gain steam. Just a few meters before the finish line, the leader in the race began to relax and let up. The instant he did, those other three guys blew right past him. That poor athlete who had led all the way? He did not even medal. You know, Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Friend, we’re nearing the finish line and although we’re tired and weary, don’t slow down. Keep straining, keep striving, and you will gain a crown that will last forever.
