Keep Persevering

I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I remember the stress we were under when Ken and I remodeled our house. The nine weeks that our contractor said that it would take, turned into six long months of drywall and dust. We were able to find fresh perspective, however, in Romans chapter 5 where it says, “Let us rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” If this advice from the Apostle Paul could shore the hearts of brothers being killed for their faith, you know what? It could certainly bolster Ken’s and my spirits. Romans chapter 5 has grace-giving power for even everyday trials, like adding a little square footage to your house. And sometimes facing the smallest of hardships head-on wins half the battle. Remember, perseverance makes for good character – and that’s pretty precious. And it’s something to remember the next time you have a remodeling job!
