Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and who doesn’t love the story of Joshua, the right-hand man of Moses, and one of the 12 spies who returned with that great report after exploring the promised land. But don’t be thinking that Joshua never faltered; that he was always brave. Because in Joshua chapter 1, verse 9, God says to this man, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” So, from this verse, we can deduce that Joshua was not always courageous. And knowing him inside and out, God also knew that Joshua (the man whose bravery we never question) … yes, even Joshua could be prone to fear and discouragement. After all, he was human. And so are you. If you struggle with fears or discouragement today, you have a friend in Joshua. And it’s why today, God is telling you – as he told Joshua – to move forward in the strength of the Lord and in His courage.
