Job’s Right To Life
Ever since the days of Job, it’s been a struggle. Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I’m talking about suffering that’s so bad, you wish you were dead. It’s the way Job thought.
In Job chapter 3, he said his life was too painful to live. First, he says he’s sorry he was ever born. Then later, he says, “I want to die now.” But near the end of the book of Job, when God finally speaks into the situation; Job realizes that his death wish was foolish. He says, “I was talking about things I knew nothing about, things far too wonderful for me.” Job learned that life is worth living.
There are always hopeful possibilities when you’re alive, but once you’re dead, that’s it. It’s over. There’s no chance of change. So, friend, as Job chapter 42 says, “we know nothing” when it comes to life’s value. So, if you’re toying with the idea, forget that death wish. Life is always worth living, because it’s that precious.
