Jesus’ Example

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and to me, what is so winsome, and attractive and compelling about the way Jesus suffered, is that he never made it about himself. Even after he was beaten and weighed down, while he was carrying the cross on the road to Calvary, he said to the women following him, “Do not weep for me.” And that’s not all. Then Jesus asked God to forgive the same soldiers who were nailing spikes into his hands and feet. The lesson here? Well, all the time Jesus was suffering, he thought of others. He was always more concerned for others than for himself. And oh, friend, if we would but do the same, it would make our testimony so much more winsome, and attractive and compelling to others.

So, if you are in pain today, can you think more of others’ needs, than your own? If you can, you are more like Jesus than you realize. Plus, thinking of others may even help your pain.
