I Will Come To You
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and it sure is painful when you sense distance between you and God. Sometimes when I’m praying, I can sense that distance; I feel as though my prayers are bouncing off the ceiling, and it causes me to panic a little. Like, “God, where are you? Don’t leave me. Please, draw near. I need you.” Well, the other day I was reading in the Gospel of John, and in those last moments before Jesus went to the cross, He said a most wonderful thing. He said to us, His followers, “I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you.” Oh, friend, be encouraged: God will come to you in sickness; He’ll come to you in suffering and in sorrow; He will come to you with His comfort and love; He will come to you and give mercy and favor and forgiveness. The God of the Bible… comes. So, if today you sense a distance between you and your Savior, please hear His words, “I will come to you.”
