Heaven is Nearer
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and heaven has become so much more the goal of my life. It’s the bottom line for every Christian, but for me as I get older and keep dealing with quadriplegia, heaven has become an imperative. For instance, Jesus tells us in Matthew chapter 6 to lay up treasure in heaven. Well, time is shorter for me now, and I only have a brief period in which to lay up that treasure: Serve Christ, give His gospel, pray earnestly, support Kingdom initiatives with my money, and honor God through obedience – and that’s just naming a few.
The cosmic stakes seem so much higher now that I am older, and I do not want to miss the opportunity to enlarge my eternal estate. Like Amy Carmichael said, “We will have all of eternity to celebrate the victories, but only a few hours before sunset in which to win them.” So join me today, friend, in winning them!
