Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I love to sleep in, but I tell you what, it doesn’t happen too often. And it never happens on a ministry trip. Awhile back, when I was in Africa, and we’d been working so hard in hospitals, rehab centers, churches. Late one night we were in our van heading back to our hotel, bumping along the road, and I said to the local missionary we were serving with – his name was Fred, sitting next to me – I said, “Boy, Fred, I bet you’ll be happy when we leave and you can get some sleep.” Fred smiled and said, “Joni, I know we’re all tired, but whenever I start to feel weary, I remember Proverbs 10:5.” Well, later back at the hotel, I looked up that verse, and it says: “He who gathers crops in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.” So, wake up sleepyhead. There’s a harvest out there waiting to be gathered! And if you’d like to join us in some of the reaping, visit us at joniandfriends.org.
