Great Purpose

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When I received my recent diagnosis of cancer, at first, I felt overwhelmed. I mean, I was already in a battle against chronic pain, trying desperately to relieve it. So, when cancer suddenly arrived, for an instant, I felt like God made a mistake. But that same day, I read these comforting words from Alan Redpath who said, “There is no circumstance, no trouble, no testing, that can ever touch me until, first of all, it has gone past God and past Christ, right through to me. If it has come that far, it has come with a great purpose.” So…cancer on top of chronic pain isn’t too much. God made no mistake.

Romans 8:28 assures me that everything, including pain and cancer, is first filtered through God the Father and Jesus Christ. And if they give it the okay, then whatever suffering comes with great purpose.
