Grab Your Sword
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and as you know, knives are handy in the kitchen. A knife is great when you go hunting or fishing and you gotta skin or scale something you catch. But swords… a sword is only used in the military. A sword is unique in that it is a weapon of warfare. So, it’s no mistake that Ephesians chapter 6 calls the Word of God a sword. It means that God’s Word is primarily a weapon of warfare. When God calls us into His kingdom, it’s a clarion call; it’s a battle cry to armor up, grab your shield of faith, and hold fast to the Word of the Spirit, the Word of God. Because, friend, the Christian life is a life of spiritual warfare. Every morning when you get up and put your feet on the ground, you resume your battle against the world, the flesh and, mainly, the devil. So today, don’t lose grip on your weapon. You need God’s Word today to win your battles.
