God’s Song In Your Night
I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and often when I cannot sleep, and my head is tired, I’ll use the time to pray. But, since my mind is foggy, I will occasionally use the words of a beautiful worship song for a prayer. Like, “How deep, the Father’s love is for me; Lord, your love is vast beyond all measure. That you would send your only Son to make me, a wretch, your treasure. How is it that I should I gain from your reward? Lord Jesus, I cannot give an answer to that. But this I know with all my heart, Your wounds have paid my ransom. Thank you Jesus.” See what I mean? When it’s nighttime and your mind is tired, use a worship song or a hymn as a prayer in the night. After all, Psalm 42 says, “In the night, the Lord’s song shall be with me, a prayer to the God of my life.” Are you at a loss for words when you cannot sleep? Is it hard to pray? Then make a worship song your prayer.
