God’s Protection
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And I still get goosebumps whenever I think back to a certain Friday evening in 1966. The house was empty and I had sat down to play my piano for an hour before heading to bed. When I went upstairs to my bedroom, I heard a horrible crash downstairs. Cautiously I crept to the living room. And there, covering the piano bench were huge, heavy elk horns. Those 12-point antlers had fallen from the wall above the piano; and I slumped to the floor in tears when I saw that the horns pierced right through the bench where I had just been sitting!
Friend, only God knows the times you’ve been threatened by near-fatal accidents – accidents that never happened, but one day heaven may well reveal all the near misses. For now, God sometimes allows us to see “what could have been,” like those elk horns. Nothing can touch us, though, without first passing through God’s hands, hallelujah! Remember that the next time you have a near miss!
