Go Deeper

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and my friend Tim grows grapes behind his home in the Santa Monica Mountains. The hills are steep and the soil is full of flint and rock, but Tim says that’s good. It makes the roots of the vine go deeper into the soil where the water table is rich with minerals. And that makes for the best fruit. In the same way, God makes us go deeper. He will create moments when we’ll think, “Why do I feel so lonely in this crowd? Why is this TV show so depressing? Why do I feel I have nothing to wear? Why does my spirit feel so dull?” Well, God creates these moments. Deuteronomy says that God causes his children to be thirsty. Is that you today? Is he making you see how the surface things of your life are too shallow and thin? Be thankful. Going deeper always makes for the best fruit in your life. I’m Joni Eareckson Tada.
