Give The Church A Chance
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and my friend Bruce was a successful dentist, but he struggled with insomnia. One morning, after weeks of no sleep, his hands shook as he reached for his dental tools. He could not calm the shakiness and so, he stopped his practice. Bruce did everything to cure his insomnia, but nothing helped. That’s when this man, broken and jobless, turned to his church and pleaded for help. Thankfully, the people in Bruce’s congregation took Romans chapter 12 seriously where it says, “Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them … with genuine affection.” And in due time, Bruce found a job within that network of people.
Friend, if you are struggling, do not choose to only look for help outside the church, thinking that God’s people are ineffective for you. No, give the body of Christ – your church – give them a chance to be a part of God’s answer to your need.
