Get Your Hands Dirty

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Have you ever offered a child chocolate cake only to have them say, “I can’t have cake, my hands will get dirty!” I don’t think so, right?! But as we get older, most of us are afraid of getting messy – of getting our hands dirty – in ministry. Well, I’m sorry to have to report this, but ministry that is effective will be messy; your hands will get dirty. It’ll involve time, effort, sweat, tears, and investment. You see, Christian ministry is not something that so-called professional Christians do; you know, pastors or missionaries or evangelists. If we are “in Christ” then we are to be like him, and he was all about ministry. He fed the hungry, healed the sick, and generally got his hands dirty in the lives of people with real needs.
