Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I love to get in front of my art easel, but if I fail to draw things from real life, my paintings show it. A painting lacks vitality if you only work from secondhand things, like photographs or other people’s drawings. And what is true for the artist, is true for the Christian. So many believers settle for secondhand information or try to grow on other people’s experiences – friend, somebody else’s testimony is not yours. Just as a painting will shine with life if you focus on the real thing, a Christian will shine with the light of Jesus if He makes the Savior His focus. Hebrews 12 tells us to study the real thing when it says, “Fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith.” So today, friend, don’t try to copy someone else’s patience or gentleness; look to Jesus and I promise your Christian walk will be the real, the genuine thing.
