Expecting Trials
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and not long ago, my whole schedule, my entire week was turned upside down because I had to be in bed with a bladder infection. And I was so bummed; it was so frustrating. Like, will these trials never end?! They come at the most inconvenient times. And I know you’ve felt that way. Well, 1Thessalonians chapter 3 says not to feel unsettled by trials “because you know we were destined for them.” Did you get that? God says we are destined to have trials. We are fallen human beings and, as such, trials are part of our destiny. So, as it says elsewhere in the Bible, do not be surprised by these trials. Don’t be bummed and don’t let them blindside you. Get a jump start on them. Take them by surprise. Do what the Bible says and learn to welcome them as friends. Why? Well, because they come to strengthen your faith, and aren’t you glad that that is your destiny?
