Everyday Trials

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. And you know, nothing seemed to go right yesterday. We discovered our refrigerator was leaking, and then the dryer broke. My curling iron went on the blink and at the close of the day, we got a bad medical report from a close family member. But Ephesians chapter 6 encourages us not to buckle under when trials pile on high. God tells us to be strong in His mighty power so that we can “stand in the day of evil.” You know, sometimes, friend, we think that the day of evil concerns life’s big catastrophes or something awful in the future. We think that putting on the armor of God means preparing ourselves for a really terrible assault from the adversary. But God’s grace-giving power is mostly for everyday trials. That’s because the enemy thinks he can wear us down by hitting us with small things all at once. So stand strong in the Lord. Facing even the smallest of hardships with grace wins the battle on any day of evil.
