Empty And Feeble

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and the other morning before my friend helped me get out of bed and into my wheelchair, I closed my eyes and prayed, “Oh, God, I’m so very empty, and I need you to fill me.” Now, God already knows this. He already knows that it’s not just that I have weakness; no, I am weak. But when I admit it – especially in front of a friend who’s helping me, it gets rid of sin’s deceitfulness. Charles Spurgeon once wrote, “When you cannot lay a stone, and cannot lift a trowel by yourself, then you may begin to build for God, for he will make you a worker together with him, and your feebleness will be linked to [his] strength.” Oh, friend listening, if you speak of your strength before the Lord, you’ll get nothing. But if you link your emptiness to God’s eternal fullness, then just watch what he’ll do in building his kingdom. I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. God bless you, and thanks for listening!
