Empty And Feeble
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and the other morning before my friend helped me get out of bed and into my wheelchair, I closed my eyes and prayed, “Oh, God, I’m so very empty, and I need you to fill me.” Now, God already knows this. He already knows that it’s not just that I have weakness; no, I am weak. But when I admit it – especially in front of a friend who’s helping me, it gets rid of sin’s deceitfulness. Charles Spurgeon once wrote, “When you cannot lay a stone, and cannot lift a trowel by yourself, then you may begin to build for God, for he will make you a worker together with him, and your feebleness will be linked to [his] strength.” Oh, friend listening, if you speak of your strength before the Lord, you’ll get nothing.
