Emmanuel, God With Us
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and Matthew chapter 1 is such a comfort where it says that Jesus is Emmanuel, “God with us.” What an assurance! What a help that is. The God of the Bible is not some meditating mystic; he’s not a guru on some far-off mountaintop at an arms-length distance from your pain. He’s God with you. And not only is he with you, he is for you. He is on your side. There is no need from which his infinite supply cannot meet; there is no stone of stumbling in your pilgrimage that he cannot remove. There’s no burden which his powerful arm cannot bear. No problem he cannot guide you through. If you are in the dark, he is your light. Oh, friend, you can face anything; even quadriplegia and pain like me – anything today. Because now and forevermore, Jesus is God with you, and Jesus is God for you. Let that encourage you today.
