Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and back in Genesis when God said it was not good for man to be alone, He wasn’t just talking about women and marriage. No, it’s not good for any of us to be alone. We were created for family and for friendships. But sometimes we can place incredibly high expectations on our friends and our family: with them, we experience our deepest joysand our most painful hurts. And perhaps it’s because we expect friends and family to fulfill in us what only God can do. Every relationship is meant to point us to Jesus. And as Paul David Tripp says, “When we reverse that order and elevate people above God, we end up destroying the relationships that God intended for us to enjoy.” My point here – it’s not good to be alone. Enjoy your family and make friends. But when you do, make certain God remains the answer to your deepeslongings and your needs.
