Don’t Fall Away

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and Jesus says in Matthew chapter 11, “Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me.” Oh, please Jesus, do not let me fall away on account of you. Now what I mean by that? Well my friend Mark Buchanan writes, “Blessed are those, who even if they don’t find a cure, or experience a breakthrough, or get rescued, still embrace their Savior. They have grasped that a relationship with Jesus is different from a bargain or a contract with him.

They understand it’s not a “if you do this for me, I will do this for you” arrangement. When Christians embrace Christ through their disappointment; they have not fallen away on account of Christ. Remember our hope is not in gettin’ things from God, not even answers to fervent, unselfish prayers. Our hope should be in Jesus Christ. Even when it’s hard, even when there’s no miracle, even when there’s not a breakthrough. Embrace him anyway.
