Direct Depositing

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and don’t you love the convenience of a direct deposit for your paycheck? You can arrange for your bank to pay all your bills, your mortgage… even set aside money for Christmas. All the hard choices are made for you, right there, without you having to resist the temptation to, well, blow your budget or put off paying bills. Now, wouldn’t it be nice if the Christian life worked that way, but it doesn’t. Never was our life in Christ intended to be convenient. Instead, Deuteronomy chapter 8, verse 3 tells us that God intends, he causes us to struggle so that we might know what’s in our hearts. And sometimes what’s in our heart isn’t very nice and, yes, our hearts would love to overspend, make unwise decisions, and blow the budget.

So today? Try direct-depositing into God’s Word. Say no to the flesh, and yes to the grace of God.
