Cultivating Culture
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. I recently heard a message by Andy Crouch who explained how culture began way back in the Garden of Eden. God created the earth, but then he told man to cultivate it. Man is supposed to tend it. And what results is culture. Because when you work to infuse God’s love in culture, it becomes fruitful. And changing culture is a slow and patient process. We can only change culture through prayer and a lot of work. We till it; we tend it with the salt and light of Christ until eventually, the landscape begins to change and our culture bears fruit for God. Friend, you and I may not be happy with today’s culture; it is so secular and self-centered, but God can change it. So, let’s keep planting seeds of restoration and reconciliation. Let’s cultivate our culture, not abandon it. It’s another way of sharing the Good News of Jesus to a lost and dying world.
