Consider the Flowers
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. You know, Jesus made an art of surprising his disciples – like the time he gave them that little sermon about the lilies of the field. I mean, can’t you just see these big burly guys, walking along behind the Lord and then he has them kneel down to examine a little wildflower by the road? Jesus says, “Observe for a minute how the lilies of the field grow….” Now that must have taken them by surprise. I mean, most of these men had never likely given a thought to field flowers. But the Lord was saying, “Look at this, if God dresses a flower in the corner of a field in his glory, don’t you think he’ll meet your needs, too?” And, friend, little flowers can remind you today of who’s really in control. The God who clothes the flowers and makes them grow is the Father who cares for every detail of your life. That is such good news! Friend, that’s worth pausing to kneel down, stop and consider.
