A forest of oak trees casting a shadow on the lush grass surrounding it, a cloudy sky peaking through the leaves.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and don’t you love the first verse of Psalm 91, He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Yes, it’s a favorite, but it also teaches a lesson. You have to be very close to something or someone in order to be in its shadow. To rest in the shadow of God requires that, well, that you dwell close, as in dwelling in His shelter. It’s pretty hard to rest in Christ unless you are close to Him. So take with you today the Words of this hymn by Charles Wesley. “Jesus, my all in all thou art; My rest in toil, my ease in pain, The healing of my broken heart. In warmy peace, in loss my gain; My smile beneath the tyrant’s frown, In shame my glory, and my crown. My light in Satan’s darkest hour; In weakness, you are my almighty power.” Oh friend, raw close to the Lord Jesus today and enjoy the cool delight of resting in the shadow of the Almighty.
