Cleansed Longings
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I have longed for many things over the years. When I was a child, I longed for my daddy’s approval and praise. In high school I longed for a date on Friday night, good grades and graduation day with a college acceptance letter. After my accident, I longed to be on my feet. My longings nowadays are often pretty mundane, though. Hankering for a slice of something sweet after dinner. But there’s something I long for that trumps everything. I long to be touched by Yahweh-Rapha, the Lord who heals. And I don’t mean a physical body that’s healed; I long for my soul to be made clean. I long to be ever so pleasing to the Father. I long to be free of bad habits. I long for my heart to be healed. So, friend, won’t you join me today in asking the Lord to cleanse your longings? It’s something that he sure is longing to do.
