Borrowed Clothes
I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. My friend Gary arrived at an upscale restaurant without knowing that he would need a jacket and a tie to enter. When he realized the requirements, he was a little ticked. But as he was about to leave, the maître d’ gently said, “Sir, we cannot violate our code, but we can help you meet it.” Gary’s irritation changed when he saw how the management bent-over-backward to provide the required clothing. He was able to enjoy fine dining in his borrowed coat and tie and was so grateful. In the same way, when it comes to that great, eternal banquet talked about in the Bible, we won’t be welcomed unless we meet the requirements – but the standards are pretty high. Yet, because of Jesus, you and I will have the necessary clothes – clothes of righteousness. Read all about it today in Revelation 19. ’Cause you know what? You’ve got the clothes if you know Christ.
