Better Than Newlywed Love
The love of God is so different from worldly love. Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I’ve been talking about this with a young newlywed who helps me get up in the morning. She is so in love, and her stories are such fun. But as I told her the other morning, her love for her husband is about to get even better. It’s about to get richer, deeper and more exciting. Because marriage demands that you really, and I mean really, live for your spouse and not for yourself. That’s true not just for starry–eyed newlyweds in the honeymoon phase. It’s true in any relationship. Ephesians chapter 4 says to put off the old self – that is, stop living for yourself – and instead, put on the new – become a person who is fit to love others as Christ does. So, join me and my young newlywed friend. Partner with the Holy Spirit, would you, in becoming the person – the loving person – God wants you to be.
