Be Holy As Jesus Is Holy

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. In the New Testament, Jesus says to be holy as He is holy. Now, there was a time I thought that sounded stuffy and religious, even a little grim and demanding. Holiness sounded like a drudgery, like a very hard duty. But Thomas Watson says that holiness is “heaven begun in the soul.” And now, years later, I sure do agree. The joy of heaven fills my heart when I obey, when I strive to be holy. And so now, as I’ve gotten older in Christ, I can honestly say that the servant of God who resists sin and strives to obey Jesus… that servant is more courageous, more kind, more dignified, more ennobled, and more holy. In other words, that servant is more like Jesus. So, friend, don’t let your sin tear you down. Don’t let it demean you. Be a follower of Jesus who pursues holiness. And in so doing, you’re gonna find real happiness.
