Balloon Volleyball

A bunch of multicolored balloons floating against a clear sky.

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and it is amazing how God can use games to open a heart to the Gospel. Like Jeff who I met at Family Retreat. Jeff is brain-injured, unable to speak, in a wheelchair, and we wondered what would happen when Jeff joined a game of balloon volleyball. Jeff’s mother wheeled him into the middle of the action, grabbed his arm and swatted a nearby balloonBam, it went sailing, and Jeff let out a big squeal of delight. From that point on, something changed…you could see the joy and freedom in Jeff. He felt connected … at devotional times, prayer times, and connected to the preaching from the Retreat pastor. Here, God used a simple game with balloons to reach both Jeff and his mother with his life-changing Gospel. It happens all the time at Family RetreatCome and volunteer at one; just visit joniandfriends.org. And when you do, don’t worry, we supply the balloons!
