An Undivided Heart

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I have been praying lately that God would give me a undivided heart; that is, a heart that is wholly focused on him. I tell you, it’s a big prayer, what with this crazy culture – so much noise, so much clutter, distractions! Often I am rushing through my days in a frenetic – that’s a good word isn’t it? – a frenetic pace. And when that happens, a zillion things all clamor for a piece of my heart. Am I describing you today? Well, perhaps you should join me in praying the same: it’s the prayer of 1 Kings 8, “Let your heart therefore be wholly devoted to the Lord our God.” Listen, friend, a hundred things might compete for your attention today, but do not let your heart become divided. Don’t let your devotion get split down the middle. Round up your affections, corral your desires, gather your heart together, and present it to him today wholly and undivided.
