All Flesh Is As Grass
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and my husband is such a fan of the movie “Top Gun.” The other night he was showing me a YouTube video of before and after images of the stars in that film: Val Kilmer, Tom Cruise, Kelly McGillis. In the 1980s, they all looked so young and strong and beautiful. But now? Those actors look pretty old and wrinkly. And we both remarked how quickly time flies; it seems like yesterday we saw that movie, “Top Gun.” We also reflected on 1 Peter chapter 1, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall.”
The glory of those movie stars is withering and fading, but don’t let that discourage you if you, too, feel the aches and pains of older age. Outwardly you are going to waste away, so just focus on inwardly growing in Christ day by day. For that will be to God’s glory.
